About Celtic FC

Celtic Football Club is a professional football team based in the Parkhead area, Glasgow. This Scottish team plays in the Scottish Premier League, which is one of the renowned football leagues in Europe. The club was initially founded in 1887, but it was not until a year later that they played their first ever game. They are one of the most celebrated football teams in Scotland and have a rich history to back up their credentials in this regard. They currently play at Celtic Park, which can play host to over 60,000 people.

Celtic Park is also the biggest stadium in Scotland, while it ranks among the top five in the United Kingdom. So far, the club has won 42 Scottish League Championships, which ranks higher than most of the other teams put together. Apart from the league titles, Celtic also has a rich history in winning the 35 Scottish Cup titles, 14 Scottish League Cup titles and much more. More than all these titles, Celtic fans treasure the cup victory in 1967: the European Cup. Celtic became the first-ever team from Scotland and England to win the European cup.

The year 1967 was also extremely special to Celtic as a football club because it had won every single trophy it contested back then. It included the titles like the Scottish League Championship, the Scottish League Cup, the Scottish Cup, the Glasgow Cup and last but not least, the European Cup. It ranks as one of the best achievements by any football team from United Kingdom, which the current Celtic are struggling to beat themselves.

Celtic had another chance to win their second European Cup, but fell to Feyenoord in the 1970 European Cup final. The club is estimated to have around 10 million supporters worldwide, which also includes 1 million supporters in regions like the United States of America where football is not especially popular.

The club generally plays in shirts that have green stripes across a white shirt, while the crest of the club is also not too different from this design. There are prominent green stripes in the crest, while the white hoofed tops has become a symbol of Celtic. The crest and the colours of the club were selected in 1903 and have remained unchanged since then. One of the major rivals for Celtic is Rangers and they regularly compete against them for the major honours in Scotland and in Europe.

These two clubs are commonly referred to as the Old Firms and the matches that they play are called as the Old Firm Derbies. These two clubs have been the dominating force in Scotland and have won the majority of trophies. So far, over 400 matches between Celtic and Rangers have been played, and these matches are known to represent the best of Scottish football. Celtic FC has also witnessed the likes of Kenny Dalglish, Henrik Larsson, Tommy Gemmell, Gordon Strachan, and Billy McNeill. Celtic is also one of the richest clubs in the UK.
