Celtic fans were thrown in wild jubilations in the city after being declared the winners of the 2019/20 season. Since the suspension of the current term in March when the Corona Virus pandemic hit the nation hard, there were arguments for and against the resumption of the season. However, with no plans in place to restart the league by mid-May, the Scottish Professional Football League agreed to curtail the season and declare Celtic winners.

As at when the season was suspended, Celtic has garnered 80 points from 30 games, 13 points ahead of closest rival Rangers who had a game in hand. Motherwell was in distant third with 46 games after 30 matches. At the bottom of the log, Hamilton earned 27 points from 30 games, four points ahead of Hearts after the same number of games played.

Cesc Fabregas has taken a light-hearted dig at the Premier League for not introducing a mid-season winter break when he was still playing in England.

The spaniard joined Arsenal in 2003 as a youngster from Barcelona. He spent 8 years in North London before moving back home to boyhood club Barcelona. He spent the last three years with Arsenal as the captain of the club. He will have another go at the Premier league. After three years with Barcelona he left to join Chelsea in 2014. At Chelsea he won the Premier league titles. He won the first one under Jose Mourinho and the other with Anotonio Conte. He left Chelsea in 2019 to join Monaco. All through his stay in England, the football season never had a winter break.

Celtic manager Neil Lennon has revealed that star forward OdsonneEdouard is not leaving in January. There have been speculations that the 21-year-old is a transfer target of the likes of Lazio, Roma, Lyon, and Napoli.

When quizzed about the player, Lennon revealed that the star forward would not be sold in January despite if the club are in Europe or not.  Edouard has been a revelation in Scotland since joining from French side PSG.

Celtic have ended their transfer interest on Motherwell youngster David Turnbull according to reports in England. Motherwellhad earlier accepted a record fee of £3 million for the player last week from the Scottish Champions. However, it seems like the transfer had unraveled with accusations of sabotaging by both parties.

From all indications it appears that the move is dead as both sides have exited negotiations. There have been speculations that newly promoted side Norwich City have made a bid for the player.

Brendan Rodgers explains main reason behind Leicester City move

Brendan Rodgers has said that the quality of players at Leicester City played a key role in him taking over the managerial vacancy at the club. The Northern Irishman had been with Celtic for the past two-and-a-half seasons but he made a rather surprise departure on Tuesday despite previously declining to comment on the same speculation.

Speaking to the Foxes’ website, Rodgers levied praise on the Hoops and said that he managed to take the Glasgow giants as far as he could. He added that he was impressed with the ambition of the Foxes while the major attraction came from the calibre of players within the current squad, he said: “We [Celtic] were on a journey of great success over these last years but when the opportunity came to talk to Leicester and I was able to analyse it, it allowed me to think that I’d probably achieved and taken the club maybe at Celtic as far as I could at this moment. The opportunity to speak with Leicester and find out their ambitions and where we can grow the Club and the training facility. Of course, the big attraction for me is working with the players.”

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers has revealed that he expects his Celtic squad to be in a really strong position by the time Valencia will be visiting Celtic Park in the UEFA Europa League on February 14.

The Hoopers were drawn against the Spanish club on Monday in the last 32 of the Europa League. The first leg is scheduled to be played in Glasgow with the return fixture to be held at the Mestalla a week later on February 21.
